There are so many nice herbs we only use for savory dishes, but are delicious in drinks and desserts. Thyme, rosemary or mint syrups are easy to make, store well and transform simple drinks into something special. They also make for great gifts!


  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 springs fresh thyme [lemon thyme] 

_ for the thyme syrup bring water to a boil 

_ dissolve sugar, add thyme and remove from heat

_ cover pot and let steep for 8-10min

_ remove thyme and let cool to room temperature


  • 1 cup lemon juice [fresh]
  • 4.5 cups water
  • 1 cup thyme syrup
  • 1 cup orange juice [fresh]
  • 2 cups water
  • 0.3 cups thyme syrup
 _ for the lemonade/orangeade mix all ingredients well [use more or less syrup according to taste]
_ serve on ice and decorated with some thyme springs
