SHAMROCK BREAD

No matter if you are looking for something special for St.Patricks day or just a fun party bread. This Gordic knot is an eye catcher while being really simple to make.
I used a classic savoury olive oil dough on this one but you can use a sweet yeast dough just as well. Feel free to add herbs and spices. Or cinnamon and raisins to the sweet version. Time to get creative :)

SHAMROCK BREAD

  • 240ml water [lukewarm]
  • 4g dry yeast
  • 2.5 cups flour
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 0.5 tablespoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • olive oil [to brush]

_ dissolve yeast in water
_ mix flour, water and sugar in a bowl
_ once water is well mixed in add 3 tablespoons olive oil and salt
_ knead until you have a soft dough
_ form into a ball, cover with olive oil and place into a bowl
_ cover with plastic foil and keep in a warm place [for about 2 hours]

_ quarter the dough and form long dough rolls [about 50 cm long]
_ knot the four roll like instructed on the pictures
[try not to make the knot too tight – leave enough space for the dough to rise in the oven]


_ place on a baking sheet and brush with olive oil

_ preheat oven to 200°C
_ bake for 20-30min until golden
