Incredible rich chocolate truffles with a hint of chili. The important thing here is to get a good quality chocolate – where the taste stays on your tong for at least a few minutes. The salt and pepper even increase the intensity of the chocolate flavor. The truffles not only taste great, but will satisfy you for a while. In addition the dark chocolate and cayenne pepper have quite some health benefits! So no need to feel bad for haven a few more of those goodies!


  • 200g good quality dark chocolate
  • 0.5 cups double cream
  • 1 dried red chili
  • 0.5 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • pinch salt
  • cocoa powder [for dusting]

_ put cream and chili in a small pot [chili unground] 

_ slowly bring to a boil

_ chop chocolate into small pieces

_ add cayenne pepper and salt

_ remove chili from cream

_ pour cream over the chocolate


_ leave to sit for 1-2 minutes

_ whisk until smooth [chocolate should be really smooth and shiny – otherwise the chocolate got too hot] 


_ put the bowl into the fridge to firm up [for 1 hour]

_ with a teaspoon spoon mounds onto a baking sheet [about 20-25 – depending on how large you make your mounds]


_ place back into the fridge for another 20-30 minutes

_ put some cocoa powder into a bowl

_ roll mounds into balls between your palms

_ dust balls with cocoa powder


_ put onto a baking sheet and chill until fully set

_ store in an airtight container in the fridge
